Best Hike EVER!!

Today the plan was to go hiking in Chimney Rock Park in Hendersonville, NC. Mother Nature did not look like she would cooperate. However Me Mommy is equally stubborn so I wanted to drive out (45 minutes each way) just to be sure. We drove through a fair amount of rain to get to the park and as you can see from the pictures- it was overcast and foggy. They mean it when they call them the Smoky Mountains!
However, the threatening weather turned out to be a great advantage. The breeze and overcast made it a cool 75 degrees so hiking was a pleasure. When we arrived the parking lot was virtually empty. We rode on the bus up to the Cliff Dwellers shop with one other family. Then we took the elevator up to the Skyline Lounge. From there it was all spectacular views and great hiking up and down the mountain.
