We timed the days activities perfectly. It was cooler while we were bike riding, nice and sunny when we were walking and then when we went to the Pink Palace Museum, torrential downpour!!! It rained and stormed so hard that the power was knocked out four times! Glad we were not out riding then. The Pink Palace is the mansion constructed by the founder of Piggly Wiggly. He made a ton of money off the grocery store chain and wanted a huge showplace built just for him. He even named it Cla Le Clare after his three children. The place is huge, impressive and very unlucky because Sanders was bankrupted by a stock fight with the NYSE before it was finished. The building ended up being owned by the city of Memphis which turned it into a museum. Now it has a planetarium, an Imax and many exhibits about Tennessee. And I only saw one thing about Elvis- which in Memphis is a miracle!
