The original plan was to have the kids go with me to the Inauguration. However, at 6 am, the kids had different ideas. John got up and dressed, but fell asleep on the stairs petting the cat. Kahea simply would NOT GET OUT OF BED! Sorry Charlie, but Mommy's on the move! Chris dropped me off at the metro around 6:30 (several stations were already reporting that the garages were filled to capaicity by then.) and I used my Barack Obama commemorative metro card to easily jump the Red line down to Judiciary Square. I was very lucky that we live near the end of line so I had a chance to sit for the ride into DC- the LAST cance to sit for the day.

Maybe someday they'll tell their kids they had a chance to go, but were to lazy...and see what I missed. Not that it will change their kids either. From the sound of your day it might be best they didn't.
