In Memphis you have to go to the Lorraine Hotel to see the sight where Martin Luther King Jr was assasinated. The museum is
very well done and informative and covers a lot of material. The kids liked all the exhibits like a real Alabama bus from the days of the boycott.

Gee I wish I was along for the ride. I remember the all these things from the news and now they are in a museum.
Are you going to Graceland????? I've always wanted to go to Memphis...Neal was there in the Navy when all the things were happening that made for the actions of Martin Luther King. When they went to the movies, if Neal went with black buddies, they had to sit in the top balcony...fondly known as nigger heaven (weren't they sweet). When he was in Key West they got thrown in the brig, because they took a black buddy to an all white bar and then because the black buddy took them to an all black bar (I guess the Key West cops called the MPs or whatever is the navy equivalent) In his life, Neal got thrown in jail twice (as far as I know) for being in a black bar. Not a civil rights activist, just a drunk.
Graceland... of course! I think they make you show your ticket stub before they let you cross into Arkansas.
It is so scary to see the photos from those times and to hear the stories. They really were taking on the whole world. The cops wouldn't help, juries wouldn't help, anyone could get beaten or killed at any time. They were so organized and disciplind in the face of such malic.
Makes you wonder where all the bravery went in this country.
Where did all that bravery go?
