Kansas City art museum

Today we went to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and it was FANTASTIC. It was raining outside and we had just done the water park so the kids were mellow and exhausted. The museum was so much fun with a large variety of art from the entire world and the entire history of the art spectrum.

We arrived at 11:30 and looked at Medieval art for an hour before breaking for a lovely lunch in the gorgeous atrium that reminded me very much of the winter garden at the Biltmore. J's favorite pieces were the knight on horseback, the knight in shinning honor and the Japanese samurai armor. (anyone else noticing a theme?)

After lunch we went to look at the impressionists and Asian art which included a big section from India. The best instillation was the Manet to Matisse in the new Bloch Buildings.
K is a fan of Monet and art deco silver. My favorite was the whimsical shuttlecocks on the huge grounds of the museum done by Claus Oldenburg.
